Politics and friendship do not go hand in hand. The equations between people change on a night when another party takes over the government and there is a fight for getting that important post in the cabinet. But even then, a few people continue to share the warm vibe of friendship despite having political differences. They might be sitting on opposite benches in the parliament but even then they maintain respect for each other.

Such friendships are few and rare but even then Indian politics have seen them. On Friendship Day, know more about such pairs.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee & LK Advani

They belonged to the same party. Both were a part of RSS at one time. But Atalji who even went on to become the Prime Minister of India and LK Advani who was a part of the cabinet for a long time had different ideologies, but they were the torchbearers who shaped the destiny of BJP. Despite being competitors, once there was a tussle for who will become the prime minister, they resolved the issue with dignity and always maintained respect and warm bonding for each other.

Sharad Pawar and Balasaheb Thackeray

Today Shiv Sena is struggling to maintain its identity in Maharashtra. On the other hand, Sharad Pawar’s party is also in trouble. However, there was a time when Pawar and Thackeray were the biggest politicians from Maharashtra. Both belonged to completely different ideologies and mindsets and opposed each other politically on every platform. But they were good friends of each other and until Balasaheb’s death maintained their friendship.

Narendra Modi and Amit Shah

BJP is planning in a big way to ensure that it returns to power in 2024. But the first time when it formed the central government and the success the party achieved under the leadership of Narendra Modi it was no miracle. It was the unrelenting campaigning, planning, and efforts of Amit Shah who is the sole confidante of the prime minister today and even for the next term, most of the responsibility lies on his shoulders.

He put aside his personal aims and desires and even during his bad health he kept on working to make sure that Modi returns as the prime minister.

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are the pillars of the Aam Aadmi Party. While earlier their hold was restricted only to Delhi, now they also have a government in Punjab and all this is because Sisodia and Kejriwal have stood with each other during trying times. Despite multiple allegations and political problems, these two friends have always been the support system for each other.

Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav

They joined hands during the last State Legislative Elections. Although they could not win the majority, the bonding between Rahul and Akhilesh has grown stronger and it is sure to help both Congress and Akhilesh’s Samajwadi Party when they fight the Lok Sabha elections next year.
