Rishabh Shetty starrer and directorial Kannada movie Kantara is the talk of the town. Apart from getting the highest IMDb rating, the movie is currently running successfully across the country in all languages. With its roaring success, finally, Kantara has grabbed the 3rd spot in the list of the highest-grossing Kannada cinema.
Each day’s success is adding feathers to the cap of Kantara. As per recent updates, the movie’s worldwide box office collection has crossed Rs 180 crore gross and will soon breach the Rs 200 crore mark. After emerging as a blockbuster in the Kannada language, the movie was dubbed and released in other languages including Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The movie scripted success in all other languages as well.
Lately, Kannada Film Industry has emerged as one of the most successful movie creators. First, it was KGF Chapter 1, then KGF Chapter 2. The glorious success of Vikrant Rona and 777 Charlie also added shine to the regional cine industry. Now, the ringing success of Kantara has scripted another saga of victory.
Now, it is speculated that Kantara will soon surpass the earlier records registered by KGF. KGF Chapter 1 had a whooping collection of Rs 240 crore (gross) in 2008. KGF Chapter 2 broke several records in Indian cinema and clinched the 2nd spot in the list of Indian cinema with the highest collection worldwide. Later, Vikrant Rona and 777 Charlie also had a fair play.
But, the recent release from Sandalwood, Kantara, has successfully drawn the attention of movie lovers globally. Now, the movie has already left Vikrant Rona and 777 Charlie far behind in terms of global box office collection. If the movie continues to run at such a pace, it will certainly surpass KGF Chapter 1 collections.
Kantara has been made at a mere budget of Rs 15-20 crore. While the movie is currently running successfully across the globe, reports are making rounds that the producers are in final negotiations to sell the movie rights to Amazon Prime Video.
If the negotiation materialises and everything goes as per the plan, Kantara will have an OTT release on the Prime on November 4.
