Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan
Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have been competitors in Bollywood for more than three decades now. While earlier both the superstars were not on good terms, in the last few years the two have mended ways and now can be seen amicably meeting each other and appreciating each other’s work publicly.
Surprisingly, long before SRK and the Lagaan actor became rivals in Bollywood, important members of their family had already fought against each other albeit in politics. Shah Rukh Khan’s father Taj Mohammad was born in Peshawar which now is in Pakistan. After the partition, he shifted his base to Delhi and contested the 1957 Lok Sabha elections from the Gurgaon seat as an independent candidate.

Two other candidates representing different parties also were contesting from the same constituency in 1957. These two candidates were Abul Kalam Azad from Congress and Moolchand from BJS. While Abul Kalam Azad won the seat with 1, 91,221 votes he was followed by Moolchand with 95,553 votes. Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan’s father Taj Mohammad did not get even a single vote which even today is history.
As is known, Abul Kalam Azad was the great grand uncle of Aamir Khan. So in a sense father of Shah Rukh Khan and a close relative of Aamir Khan were political rivals during the second Indian Lok Sabha elections.
At present, Shah Rukh and Aamir are both big superstars. SRK faced a dull patch in his career for a couple of years but bounced back in the last two years with movies like Pathaan and Jawan. On the other hand Aamir Khan is going through a bad phase as of now.
He is all set to return as an actor and a director with Sitaare Zameen Par scheduled to release on December 25, 2024.
