Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh are both happily married to their respective spouses – Virat Kohli and Deepika Padukone. But years ago when the two were new in Bollywood and when Ranveer Singh started off his career opposite Anushka Sharma with Band Baaja Baaraat, rumours were adrift that the two were dating.

However, a couple of years later the Dil Dhadakne Do co-stars went separate ways found their love, and got married. So what exactly was the reason why things between Anushka and Ranveer did not work out despite the two being great buddies?

When Anushka Sharma said Ranveer can’t be a boyfriend

Years ago even before she had married Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma shared why her relationship with Ranveer Singh could not go beyond a certain level. During an interview, Anupama Chopra asked, “Ranveer also said you are friends. You are very close and he talks about how much he loves you. But he said in an interview that he cannot handle you in the capacity of a boyfriend. He said that boyfriend ki toh woh jaan le legi. So why would he say that?”

The Zero actress stated, “That’s because Ranveer can’t be a boyfriend. Ranveer is a very fine guy. Very very hard working but he is quite caught up with himself at the moment. He should be. It’s his first film and I understand that. And that is why I said that I cannot date him. Many people ask me why we don’t see each other. And I say this is the reason. I want a boyfriend who at the end of the day not tell me what his day was like but asks me probably how your day went which you will never do so I cannot date you.”

While this interview was taken near the release of Band Baaja Baaraat and that is why Ranveer Singh was so occupied with himself. Even Anushka Sharma agreed that until some time ago she was also like him but now after finding success with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she can be in a relationship also. However, she added that it is not going to happen because she is not meeting boys and she is just meeting actors and she simply does not want to date actors because they are too self-obsessed.
