Kareena Kapoor Khan teams up with Salaar star for crime-thriller, check details

Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to join forces with Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran in director Meghna Gulzar’s next venture, Daayra, marking a dynamic new on-screen pairing.

The film explores the intricate layers of contemporary society, tackling urgent and thought-provoking issues. This intense crime-drama thriller delves into the age-old tussle between crime, justice, and consequences, with both Kareena and Prithviraj portraying emotionally charged, complex characters.

Kareena expressed her excitement: “As I complete 25 amazing years in Hindi cinema, I’m excited to announce my next film, Daayra, with the exceptional Meghna Gulzar. I’ve been a huge admirer of her work—from Talvar to Raazi—and being directed by her is truly a dream. Collaborating with Prithviraj, whose work I greatly respect, is an added bonus. The film’s bold and meaningful theme is what drew me in. I can’t wait to begin this cinematic journey with Meghna, Prithviraj, and Junglee Pictures.”

Prithviraj Sukumaran shared that he was instantly captivated by the script. “The moment I heard the narration, I knew I had to do this film. Meghna Gulzar’s Next After ‘Sam Bahadur’

Director Meghna Gulzar described Daayra as a film that pushes boundaries and urges audiences to think about society and its systems. “Writing this story with Sima and Yash allowed us to explore the greys that lie within the black and white. Having Kareena and Prithviraj in the lead only elevates the storytelling,” Meghna noted.

A Thought-Provoking Narrative Backed by Junglee Pictures

Currently in the pre-production phase, Daayra is being developed by Junglee Pictures. Meghna, along with co-writers Yash and Sima, has crafted a script that promises depth and resonance, following her previous hit, Sam Bahadur.
