Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan won millions of hearts a few years ago when he declared that his property would be divided equally between his daughter Shweta Nanda and son Abhishek Bachchan. Many times the Bollywood superstar has made it clear that he considers both the son and daughter equal and does not discriminate.
That is why it was shocking when an old buzz on the Kalki 2898 AD actor that throws light on a different perspective regarding Big B resurfaced recently online.
Those were the times when Abhishek Bachchan was a bachelor and was not even engaged to Aishwarya Rai. During one of his visits to Varanasi, the famous superstar said that he wants Abhishek Bachchan to marry soon and give him a male heir.
This statement from a senior actor did not go down well with many people including NGO’s who have been fighting sexual and gender discrimination since long calling out Amitabh Bachchan.
When Amitabh Bachchan was heavily criticised for saying that he wanted his son Abhishek to marry soon and produce a male heir.

Savera, an Indian NGO dedicated to creating civil awareness in society slammed the statement of the Agneepath actor and called it unfortunate, and said that this will affect the already skewed sex ratio in the country.
The then-president of Savera, Anhish Ohri said, “Such a statement will further encourage gender discrimination and female foeticide. This was never expected from Amitabh Bachchan and at the time when the government and NGOs have waged a war against the social evil of female foeticide.”
Years later when Aaradhya Bachchan was born, photographs of Amitabh Bachchan taking his granddaughter home hit the front pages. However, even then his statement that Jaya and Abhishek Bachchan wanted a girl indicated that he was not keen to have a granddaughter but may have harbored the intention of having a grandson.
