Kalki 2898 AD sequel has remained a topic of interest for moviegoers, since the release of the first part. Recently, various reports surrounding the sequel have been doing rounds. Being one of the much-awaited flicks, fans are waiting for an official update on the sequel from the makers. Finally, ending all speculations, Telugu filmmaker Nag Ashwin recently dropped a major update on the Kalki 2898 AD sequel.

During a recent media interaction, ahead of the re-release of his debut directorial Yevade Subramanyam, Ashwin talked about Kalki 2.
He said that the sequel is set to begin filming in December this year.
When asked about Prabhas' limited screen time in the first part, Ashwin said that the first Chapter focused on world-building and establishing the back-stories of SUM80 (Sumathi) and Ashwatthama to lay the groundwork for Karna.
Ashwin said, "The second part will have more of Prabhas, as it will primarily revolve around the characters of Karna and Ashwatthama."
According to earlier reports, the sequel will focus on Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who has now gained the strength for his mission. The film will delve deeper into the journeys of Bhairava and Ashwatthama as they fight to protect SUM80’s unborn child, believed to be the final divine avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kalki.
