Rakesh Roshan | Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai
The stardom, fame, and spotlight that Bollywood stars are often associated with does not always do justice to the tales of determination and sheer courage that went behind it. One such remarkable tale is that of Bollywood mega-star Hrithik Roshan and his father Director Rakesh Roshan.
In the recently premiered Netflix documentary, ‘The Roshans’, the ‘Krrish’ actor opened up on a sacrifice of unimaginable levels that his father took to launch him into success. Rather, his statements would seemingly crush all those who allege nepotism and lack of family values in the Indian Hindi entertainment industry.
Footage from the documentary featured Hritish Roshan giving his acceptance speech for Best Actor and Best Debut at the Filmfare Awards for ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’. Without losing any moment, Roshan adorned his father with thankfulness as the latter had literally taken bullets to his chest while trying to launch his son’s career.

“Basically, nothing made sense. I just wanted to quit before things had even begun for me,” Hrithik Roshan stated in the clip. The reference was to the incident when Rakesh Roshan was shot at by assailants just days after the release of ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’.
On one hand, Hrithik’s family was receiving news of his debut film’s success while on the other hand, his father took two bullets, to his arm and chest. Moreover, to ensure his son’s success, Rakesh Roshan mortgaged his house and cars to finance the film.
In the play of fate, fortunately, everything worked in the Roshan’s favour. Rakesh Roshan went on to make a full recovery and Hrithik Roshan became an overnight star. However, the event stands as an example to highlight that any father, no matter their success or position, can go to any lengths for their son.
