Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most sought-after actors that filmmakers from all industries want to work with. Though many moviegoers raised eyebrows over Vijay paired opposite Katrina Kaif in Merry Christmas, did you know the Vikram actor turned down the proposal of romancing Krithi Shetty in DSP? Of course, the reason is heart-winning.
Vijay is all set for his upcoming Maharaja and is busy with promotions. During a recent interview with Behindwoods, the actor opened up about being offered to romance Krithi in DSP. He also disclosed the reason why he said no to it.
Vijay revealed that Krithi was considered the female lead for Ponram's 2022 flick DSP. However, he declined to romance with the actress as he had earlier essayed the role of her father in Buchi Babu Sana’s Telugu flick Uppena.
Vijay was quoted as saying, "I declined the offer of being paired opposite Krithi in DSP movie. I played her father in Uppena, which the makers didn’t know about. There’s a scene in Uppena that Krithi was nervous about when we were shooting. I even asked her to think of me as her real father while we were shooting that. She is a little older than my son. I told them I couldn’t do it.” Later, the makers roped in Anukreethy Vas to play the female lead.
Well, this is not the first time when Vijay revealed about this. In 2023, he told the media that after the stupendous success of Uppena, he signed a Tamil film. While the team of his new flick thought that Krithi would be good as the female lead, after seeing her photo, Vijay immediately called the team and said to avoid her as heroine as he can't romantically approach her.
Such an approach would have won the hearts of his admirers and respect for him must have increased. And, it is evident from the social media posts of fans praising the actor.

On the work front, Vijay will be next seen in Nithilan Swaminathan’s Maharaja. The movie slated to release on July 14 will also have Anurag Kashyap in a major role. He also has two other films in the pipeline, Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai 2 and Gandhi Talks (a silent film).
