  • Vijay Deverakonda apologized to the theater owner from Mumbai recently.
  • Manoj Desai had slammed the actor for making an irresponsible statement in wake of Liger's release.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger movie has failed to attract an audience in the theaters. And this has certainly affected the career of the Tollywood star in Bollywood as Liger was his debut movie. But more than that, it has put a dent in the collection of the theater owners and distributors who were behind the screening and release of this Dharma movie.

Disturbed by this dismal response to Liger, Mumbai exhibitor Manoj Desai a couple of days ago slammed Vijay Deverakonda for his irresponsible comments. Earlier in one of the press meet for the promotional events of Liger, the Dear Comrade actor was asked to respond to the boycott trend against Liger. Speaking on the same, the actor had arrogantly stated, “Kon rokenga dekh lenge.” The actor further said that since he never feared anything before being a star, there is nothing to fear for him now and he will see who can stop them.

Post the movie’s poor performance Manoj Desai said that Vijay is arrogant and that he should have learned a lesson from Aamir Khan after Laal Singh Chaddha flopped badly. Desai even mocked Vijay saying that you are Anaconda and not Konda Konda. Now it seems, Vijay has understood how his statement has affected the performance of Liger in theaters and also leading and veteran film exhibitors like Manoj Desai.

That is why recently he met Manoj Desai in person and apologized to him for his statement. This gesture is expected to change the perspective of the audience towards him and may attract more people to the theaters. A few social media users have hailed it as a great initiative. But the damage has been done.

Interestingly, it also shows that stars can no longer make an absurd statement and go away with it. If a statement on intolerance can affect a big superstar like Aamir Khan, it is time these so-called superstars start behaving responsibly and respecting the views and sentiments of their fans and the audience in general.
