  • Vijay Deverakonda will be next seen in VD12 with Sreeleela in the lead.
  • According to a buzz, Rashmika Mandanna may join the cast of VD12 for a cameo.

Vijay Deverakonda is now desperately looking for a big hit. After two of his last releases- Kushi and Liger tanked at the box office, he needs a big hit to establish yet again that he is Tollywood’s young superstar. And his upcoming movie tentatively titled VD12 might do the trick.

Directed by Gautam Tinnamuri, Sreeleela will be playing the female lead in this film. However, there is now a strong buzz that Rashmika Mandanna is set to join the crew of the movie albeit in a cameo.

Rashmika and Vijay have been rumoured to be dating for the last few years and their chemistry was loved by fans in movies like Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.

Undoubtedly, their real-life rumoured love story and their onscreen chemistry will help the movie attract a lot of footfalls initially in the theaters. And that may be the reason why producers have decided to cast Rashoo in VD12 although in a cameo so that fans can get to see their chemistry once again.

Earlier when the movie was announced, Sreeleela was named as the leading lady of the film. Vijay had even shared in June last year that the shooting had started with an interesting post on his Instagram account. But then, rumours were rife that Rashmika Mandanna was replacing Sreeleela.

While the Tollywood actor is struggling to revive his career in Tollywood, Rashmika Mandanna is slowly peaking up both in Bollywood and South Indian movies. Earlier there was a strong buzz that the rumoured couple is planning to get engaged in February 2024 however the team Deverakonda refuted all these rumours.

VD12 will be made with a budget of Rs 100 crore and hence is the costliest movie of Vijay Deverakonda to date. A few days ago, Netflix India South shared the poster of a police officer in uniform with the caption, “It’s about to get all ROWDY up in here, THE VD is on his way! #VD12 is coming soon on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi as a post-theatrical release.” The movie is expected to hit the theaters this year.
