Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga on Thursday slammed actor Adil Hussain a day after the latter said that Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead, is the only film in his career that he regrets being a part of. Further, he also said that he agreed to do the film without reading the script. But, walked out of the theatre in 20 minutes.

Today, Sandeep Reddy Vanga took to X (formerly Twitter) and slammed the English Vinglish actor for such a statement.

Sharing a YouTube video link of Adil's statement, Vanga wrote, "Ur 'belief' in 30 art films didn't get as much fame to u as ur 'regret' of 1 BLOCKBUSTER film did. I regret casting u,knwing that ur greed is bigger than ur passion. NOW I'll save U from the shame by replacing Ur face with AI help Now smile properly" (sic)

Notably, expressing his views on working in the movie, recently during an interview on AP Podcast, the Life of Pi actor said he wasn’t aware what Kabir Singh was about when he said yes to the role. He said, “I really hope not. I think I saw a part of that film. That’s the only film in my life that I have done without reading the script, without seeing the movie which it is based on."

Furthermore, he added, "I went to see Kabir Singh in Delhi and after 20 minutes I just walked out. The only film that I have regretted doing till date is Kabir Singh because I think it is misogynist and makes me feel small as a human being.”

He also shared that he tried to turn down the offer by asking for a massive pay cheque but the makers agreed to pay the amount. Left with no choice, he had to do the part.

"I liked the scene. The scene I did is a good scene so I thought the film is also going to be good. So I went to watch the film and I thought what am I doing here? You have no idea how I felt. I felt so embarrassed," he shared.

Expressing his views on Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal ?, Adil said, “I didn't even dare to watch Animal so I can't comment on that. I heard stories from trusted friends but unless I watch it, I can't comment. But I am a part of Kabir Singh so I went to watch it."

Expressing his opinions on Vanga's movie-making approach, the actor said, "I feel everybody has a right to make a film the way they want. I would defend his (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) freedom to make a film. But I disagree with him completely. I think a film like Kabir Singh celebrates something which is not beneficial for the society. It legitmises male misogyny and violence against anybody (does not have to be a woman). I have said it before that the only film I regret doing is Kabir Singh."

Though Kabir Singh was a remake of Arjun Reddy, the movie emerged as a blockbuster in 2019. It also became the biggest blockbuster of Shahid Kapoor's career. Vanga returned with Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Animal. Though the movie faced criticism for its portrayal of toxic masculinity, it became commercially successful and scripted box office records.

While Vanga is all set to bring Animal's Tamil version with Suriya, a sequel to the RK-starrer is already on the cards.
