However, her journey in the industry was not easy even though she has been a part of several blockbuster movies.

Nepotism in Bollywood: 'Kisi Ke Baap Ki Industry Nahi Hai'

During a recent interview with Indian Express, Vidya opened up about the much-discussed topic of nepotism in Bollywood.

Vidya is an actress who rose to the top in Bollywood without any inside connection. She proved herself with her impeccable talent.

When asked if she ever faced the brunt of 'Nepotism,' The Dirty Picture actress said, "Have never known how to respond to this question because nepotism or no nepotism I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote (The film industry doesn’t belong to somebody’s father otherwise all the star kids would be successful).”

Vidya's ex-BF cheated on her: 'He was just an a**'

During the same interview, Vidya recounted how she discovered that the person she was dating had cheated on her.

Vidya said, "I have experienced betrayal. The first boy I dated cheated on me and I have to tell you he was just an a**. I recall the moment we broke up, and coincidentally, I ran into him at college on Valentine's Day. He casually mentioned, 'I'm meeting my ex-girlfriend for a date.' I was taken aback. That incident deeply hurt me, but I've moved on and achieved greater things in life."

Furthermore, when she was asked about what type of men she was into, she humorously responded that she used to get attracted to jerks.

Vidya instantly accepted 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' offer

2007's horror-comedy flick Bhool Bhulaiyaa, also starring Akshay Kumar, Ameesha Patel and Shiney Ahuja among others, emerged as a blockbuster and became a milestone for Vidya Balan. Vidya was offered the role of Manjulika by filmmaker Priyadarshan and she agreed to do it without even reading the script. She hardly took any time to say 'Yes' to the offer because of acclaimed Malayalam actress Shobana.

During an interview with PTI, Vidya recalled her meeting with Priyadarshan. The filmmaker was shooting an ad with Sunny Deol in Mumbai and he asked the 'Hey Baby!' actress to come to the set to meet him.

Further, Vidya stated that as a kid she had already watched the original Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu and loved Shobana's performance in it. However, she also was scared of her and never watched the film again.

When she was offered the role, Vidya was surprised and elated. She said, "Wow, are you offering me that film?'', and instantly said yes.

Vidya added, "There was no script or anything because I had seen the original. It was probably the shortest meeting I had for a film and that was the shortest time I took to say yes to a film because I loved the original.”

Well, Vidya nailed her character as Manjulika and the announcement of the OG returning to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 streamed excitement among all. Certainly, movie lovers can't wait to see Vidya in the third instalment of the franchise.
