Tiger 3 stops screening of Jawan in this theatre in Kolkatta! Deets inside

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara starrer Jawan seems to be on a record-break opening in India as it hits the theaters on today. But the movie will not be released in Priya Cinema, Kolkata.

Jawan, Tiger 3

Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara starrer Jawan is expected to get a record-break opening in India as it hits the theaters today. The promotions and trailer have created a lot of hype and even SRK has been quite aggressive on social media doing back-to-back #Askme sessions encouraging fans to come into the theaters. The response is humongous across the country except in Kolkata.

Surprisingly, it is Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 that has stopped the screening of Jawan in a prominent theater in Kolkata. Reportedly, the owner of the Priya Cinema in the city has decided that he will not screen Jawan because SVF, the distributors who are distributing the SRK movie in the City of Joy expect the cinema theaters to sign a contract.

According to the contract, the theaters will have to release Bengali movies produced by SVF as per their schedule and also in Diwali instead of showing YRF-produced Tiger 3 which stars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead.

Commenting on the same, the Priya Cinema owner said that irrespective of the feelings for Bengali movies, no one even knows which Bengali films are releasing this Diwali.

A post on the Facebook page of Priya Cinema Hall has asked, “Can they fill even half of the seats as a tentpole film like Tiger 3 can? Can you imagine the amount of losses that a single-screen theatre will be incurring if they only run Bengali films throughout Kali Puja/Diwali?”

And that is why the owner of Priya Cinema, Mr. Arijit Dutta has declared his inability to screen Jawan in his theater. It was reported earlier that one of the fan clubs of SRK had decided to host a special screening of Jawan on its release date at Priya.

But now they have shifted the venue to Bijoli Cinemas. The post concludes that in the times when very few single-screen theaters are left in Kolkata, such dirty politics is being played. It is noteworthy that Priya Cinema is one of the most prominent single-screen theaters in the city.
