The Kapil Sharma Show: Will Ali Asgar return as ‘Dadi’? Actor breaks down, know why

Popular sitcom 'The Kapil Sharma Show' (TKSS) hosted by comedian-actor Kapil Sharma has once again begun tickling the funny bones of the audience. After a brief hiatus, Kapil is back with a new team. Still, many yearn for the old team members of Comedy Nights with Kapil. Among the old team members, ‘Dadi’ aka Ali Asgar’s absence is irreparable.  

Actor Ali Asgar has proven time and again on small as well as the silver screen. However, he garnered massive popularity with his ‘Dadi’ character on the comedy show. His hilarious comic timing, special getup, and acting have been ever lauded.

However, did you know that behind his ever-smiling and cheerful face, Ali had been hiding a shredded heart? Yes, Ali has been hiding a scar that he got for portraying ‘Dadi’ character.

Ali, who has now appeared as a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa broke down into tears after listening to his children’s negative experiences in their school due to his acting career as Dadi. Ali’s son Nuyaan Asgar and daughter Ada Asgar recently appeared on the show as virtual guests during its family special episode.

While appreciating her father, Ada revealed that their school friends used to tease them by telling them that they have two mothers. Even she revealed that their schoolmates used to make tattoos saying Dadi ka beta and Dadi ki beti (Dadi’s son and daughter), and also Basanti. 

However, without getting affected by the trolls, she praised Ali and said, “He used to make fun of himself to make others laugh. That’s not everyone’s cup of tea. We love you dad.”

After listening to the statement of her daughter, Ali broke into tears. 

Earlier, Ali also had admitted that after portraying women characters in the show, he lost the chances of getting male roles. 

Bombay Times quoted Ali as saying, “My image as a comedian is so strong that it has become like baggage and people don’t consider me for any other role. Woh mujhe auraton ke libaas ke bahar dekh hi nahi paa rahe (They are not able to see me outside the garb of a woman.)”

After Comedy Nights With Kapil, Ali joined the cast of TKSS. However, he left the show after a year citing creative differences as the reason. 

Earlier, when Kapil appeared on Arbaaz Khan’s show Pinch, he said that he wanted to block Ali. “Ali Bhai ko mein block karna chahunga kyuki mujhe samajh nahi aaya wo gaye kyun (I want to block Ali as I didn’t understand why he left),” Kapil was quoted as saying.

Will Ali team up with Kapil again?

Well, rumours have been abuzz that Ali might soon return and team up with Kapil. However, when Ali was asked about the same, he had a different reaction. 

Recently, Ali cleared the air that there is no truth behind the circulating rumours. Busting the speculations, he said, “No, there is no such chance in the recent future. Currently, it is quite exciting for me. The way I used to work earlier, I am doing something different now and I wished to do such things since a long time. No complaints, I am not at all in a rush.”
