The countdown has begun! One of the biggest web shows of the year The Family Man 2 is soon hitting the small screens. One factor that has the audience excited is South stunner Samantha Akkineni’s digital debut. In the recently released trailer, Samantha’s never seen avatar has taken the audience by storm and raised the excitement levels of the viewers.

Samantha Akkineni is playing the antagonist, Raji who will be clashing with NIA agent Srikant Tiwari aka Manoj Bajpayee. The role is completely different from the diva’s previous roles as she will be seen kicking in action in her absolute raw self. However, in an interview the directors, Raj and DK revealed that they were in two minds while casting Sam in this key role. Revealing his apprehension, DK said, “ She is a supremely talented actress but I was apprehensive because the role is a very intense demanding role and it is not a typical role. The role is physically demanding as well, a lot of training has to be done as there is a lot of action involved. So you really should be wanting to do a role like this and I can’t convince anyone to do it. And interestingly, she was actually looking to do it that’s what surprised us.”

In the same interview, the South superstar expressed her gratitude that the directors cast her in the web show and not someone from Mumbai. She also shared her experience of working out of the South industry for the first time and let out some of the details of her character. Sammy shared, “ There were so many layers to Raji so I loved working on her character. It was an amazing experience working with them, even though it was physically, emotionally exhausting, I think they (Raj and DK) made me want to come to work every day.”

The Family Man 2 is a landmark project in Samantha Akkineni’s career as the show will mark her entry into the digital world as well the Pan-India content scene. The show will stream on Amazon Prime on June 4, 2021.
