The Ba***ds of Bollywood’s untold story: Aryan Khan's smile phobia to sleepless nights

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, is all set to make his much-awaited debut as a director with The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Even before officially stepping into the industry, Aryan has become a youth icon, admired for his striking resemblance to SRK and his magnetic presence. Yet, fans have often wondered why he rarely smiles on camera. Alongside this mysterious persona lies another revelation- Aryan has spent countless sleepless nights working on his debut, reflecting both his quirks and his deep dedication to the project.

Why Aryan Never Smiles on Camera?

Actor Raghav Juyal, who plays Lakshya’s best friend in the series, recently revealed the truth behind Aryan’s no-smile habit. 

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Raghav said, “He has a phobia of smiling in front of the camera. He won’t smile in front of the camera, usko bahot pasand hai attitude mein rehna (he really likes to stay in attitude). But with us, he makes faces as well. He has a very childlike energy in him.”

Raghav added that Aryan’s reluctance to smile has ironically become part of his charm, especially among female fans.

“Maine usko bola hai ke main ek din hasaunga zaroor camera ke aage (I told him one day I’ll definitely make him laugh in front of the camera), but he said ‘no no bro don’t do that’,” he recalled.

Interestingly, despite this habit, Aryan was seen flashing a rare smile in a video shared by SRK, during his collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh for the track Tenu Ki Pata, which also marked Aryan’s singing debut.

Sleepless Dedication to His Debut Series

While Aryan’s camera persona grabs attention, what truly defines him is his relentless work ethic. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Lakshya and Sahher Bambba revealed that Aryan has been deeply invested in The Ba***ds of Bollywood for years, long before the cast was finalized.

Lakshya shared, “It didn’t seem like it’s his first show because of the clarity and surety he had on the material. We would finish shooting and go home, but he would stay back to edit. Sometimes he came to set without even sleeping. He has done nothing apart from this show for the last five years.”
