Popular Tamil actor Daniel Balaji, known for his role in superstar Vijay Thalapathy’s ‘Bigil’ and ‘Bairavaa’, passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was only 48. A report in TOI said, Daniel suffered severe chest pain and was immediately rushed to Chennai’s Kottvakam Hospital. However, he breathed his last during treatment. 

The funeral arrangements are being made and his body will be laid to rest at his residence in Purasaiwalkam, the report added. Apart from Bigil and Bairavaa, he is known for his role in Goutham Vasudev Menon’s ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ alongside Tamil superstar Suriya.

Talking about his career, Balaji started off as a unit production manager on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s unfinished Indian historical drama ‘Marudhanayagam’. Later, he joined the TV industry and worked in a soap ‘Chitthi’ which gave him the opportunity to be part of the silver screen.

His major breakthrough came after he reprised the role of antagonist ‘Amudhan’ in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’. 

Apart from Tamil movies, he has also worked in several Malayalam movies. He made his debut with Mammootty’s ‘Black’ and was the main villain in Mohanlal’s ‘Bhagavan’ and Mammootty’s ‘Daddy Cool’.
