Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s original Roshan Singh Sodhi aka Gurucharan Singh recently opened up about his exit from the show. When TMKOC returned after lockdown norms were eased, Neha Mehta who played the popular character of Anjali Mehta and Gurucharan did not join the shooting. Instead, they were replaced by new actors.
While Neha Mehta had some bitter experience to share about her exit, Gurucharan had said that his father had undergone a major surgery due to which he could not join the shooting. But there is more to this statement than meets the eye. Because there have been times when actors have taken a break from TMKOC for personal reasons and returned after a couple of months.
Talking to ETimes recently, the actor spilled beans on his exit from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. According to Gurucharan, apart from surgery, there were a few other things in his life that he needed to address and there were other reasons as well for quitting the show but he did not want to talk about it. The comedy actor further said that whatever work he did on the show he did with full passion and enjoyed it.
There have been rumours that he quit the show because of a delay in remuneration but Gurucharan opted to stay quiet on the matter. Instead, when asked whether he has been paid all his due amount or not, he just evaded the question giving a confusing reply indicating that payment could have been one of the reasons why he decided to quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
On whether all the dues were paid or not Gurucharan said, “Pata nahi. Bas pyaar mohabbat se jiyo. My Guru says that we shouldn't attack anybody.”
When asked whether he would like to return to the show, he said that as of now he does not know but God willing he might come back. He also emphasized that he is the one who suggested that the showmakers should replace him with Balwinder Singh Suri as he was a part of TMKOC’s creative team for since long.
Gurucharan Singh also said that while he has not seen the work of the new Sodhi much, there are people who still want him back on the show and that is certainly very true.
