Stree 2: Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor ensure magic never ends; next stop - Stree 3

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 have released to a grand response. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films the horror-comedy was one of the most anticipated movies of this year after its first movie Stree released in 2018 became a superhit. The wait was too long for the fans who earnestly wanted the team of Shraddha, Rajkummar, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi to weave the magic of horror and comedy once again.

Fortunately, the director Amar Kaushik has ensured that instead of using the same trite and monotonous scenes and dialogues things are kept entertaining, engaging, and interesting. The entire picture is surely a step ahead of the first movie. Many critics have hailed the performances from the lead star cast and if Maddock Films keeps on focussing on being original and innovative Bollywood too can have a Stree Cinematic Universe similar to Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rajkummar Rao steals the show with his impeccable comic timing and versatility whereas Shraddha Kapoor nails it as the intriguing and mysterious Stree. Both Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee deliver as expected but it is Pankaj Tripathi who has got the most clap-worthy dialogues. And as expected he does full justice to them.

Once again the story moves around Chanderi where this time instead of a woman, it is a sarkata or a headless demon who is creating horror in this fictional village. Now it is the responsibility of Vicky aka Rajkummar Rao to save Chanderi and helping him in this task is none other than Shraddha Kapoor as Stree who gets help from Bhediya aka Varun Dhawan.

The cross-over between Stree and Bhediya is where it seems the tempo of the movie slacks a bit and it seems the story has been dragged unnecessarily so that Bhediya can make an entry in the movie. Another surprising package is the cameo by Akshay Kumar in an entirely new role and it is heartening to see the superstar experimenting with something new.

Overall Stree 2 is a fantastic drama that is expected to become a blockbuster and can be watched with family and friends. Importantly, the sequel is so good that fans can expect the makers to make an announcement for Stree 3 soon.
