Stree 2 beats Animal, Pathaan, Jawan, Gadar 2 with a huge margin!

When thinking of big Bollywood blockbusters in the last few years the names of movies like Animal, Pathaan, Jawan, and Gadar 2 quickly come to mind. These are the movies that created and destroyed many box-office records. Pathaan was the comeback movie of Shah Rukh Khan which made a massive business followed by Jawan and these two movies set the parameters for deciding the success of a film whether it is just a hit or a blockbuster.

But Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 has surprised everyone by getting the highest advance booking for a Bollywood movie in recent times. Thus it has surpassed big movies like SRK’s Jawan and Pathaan, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, and Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter. The list of bookings released recently shows that Stree 2 has opened to a massive booking beating the other movies with a huge margin.

Importantly, two other movies from big Bollywood stars – Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa are also releasing simultaneously. Even then it is Stree 2 which is getting the biggest response whereas other movies released today are nowhere near the sequel.

The year 2024 has been very tough for Bollywood as big movies led by Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar , and Hrithik Roshan have failed to deliver blockbusters like Animal and Jawan. One of the reasons can be that there has been no release of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, or Salman Khan- the 3 Khans who are known to deliver big blockbusters.

Surprisingly, low-budget movies like Crew, Lapataa Ladies, and Srikhanth have done very well. Now all eyes and hopes are on Stree 2 and at least the start seems to be much more than the expectations. The reviews for Stree 2 are very good and hopefully, the release on Independence Day followed by a weekend and a holiday on Raksha Bandhan will help the sequel reach 100 crore within just a few days.
