SSMB29: SS Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu arrive in Odisha’s Koraput, shooting to start soon
The picturesque Koraput district in Odisha is emerging as a major destination for South Indian films as big filmmakers are now giving special attention to this scenic location. Renowned director S.S. Rajamouli, known for blockbuster films like Baahubali and RRR, has arrived in Koraput for the shooting of his upcoming film SSMB 29.
The film’s shooting is currently taking place in Semiliguda, specifically in the Talimali Hills. Since last Thursday, the location has been bustling with activity as the film crew sets up for major scenes. Along with Rajamouli, superstar Mahesh Babu and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran are also present in Koraput for the shoot.
According to reports, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra will soon join the team.
With large crowds gathering to witness the shooting, authorities have implemented tight security measures around the film set. The shoot is not limited to the Talimali Hills; sequences will also be filmed at Deomali, Odisha’s highest peak. The administration has granted permission for shooting until March 28.
A massive crew of 500 members has set up camp in Semiliguda. The district, known for its lush green forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking hills, has become a hot topic on social media, with videos of the film shoot going viral. This newfound attention is drawing interest from more filmmakers.
“Koraput is now gearing up for film tourism. While many tourists visit the district to spend time in the lap of nature, now the film shooting also boosts local employment. This is a matter of pride for the district and Odisha as big filmmakers prefer our locations,” said V Keerthi Vasan, district Collector.
Previously, Koraput also hosted the shooting of Anushka Shetty’s film Ghaati, while Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, was filmed in Malkangiri, a part of the undivided Koraput district. With its growing popularity in the film industry, Koraput is fast becoming a sought-after location for major movie productions.
