SSMB29: Is SS Rajamouli 'backing out' from his initial plans with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra?
Ace South filmmaker SS Rajamouli's globetrotting action-adventure SSMB29 (working title) has remained the talk of the town ever since the announcement. Though an official announcement about the project and the cast is awaited from the makers, Rajamouli has already begun filming some major sequences with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Notably, since the announcement, the upcoming visual spectacle has been creating significant buzz. Earlier, reports were abuzz that the Baahubali maker planned to make SSMB29 in two parts. However, the latest buzz suggests that Rajamouli is 'backing out' from his initial plans with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.
Initially, speculations were rife that SS Rajamouli planned to make SSMB29 in two parts, like his Baahubali franchise. However, the latest report suggests that Rajamouli has decided to narrate the forest adventure in a single part, instead of splitting it into two.
The report by Pinkvilla quoted a close source to the development as saying, "SS Rajamouli is known for breaking convention and crafting stories in formats that maximise audience engagement. He pioneered the two-part storytelling trend with Baahubali. But, for SSMB29, he aims to take a different approach."
The source further stated that Rajamouli feels that many filmmakers have exploited the two-part format for commercial gains rather than storytelling purposes. So, to avoid stretching the narrative unnecessarily, the filmmaker has structured the screenplay as a single part, promising a gripping experience for the audience.
Furthermore, talking about the probable runtime of SSMB29, the source revealed that much like RRR, the upcoming action-adventure will have an extensive runtime.
The source stated, "Rajamouli has designed this film (SSMB29) in a way that maintains the audience's attention from the first frame to the last. It's a layered narrative, blending reality, mythology, fiction and adventure, seamlessly."
After Hyderabad, Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran filmed some major action and adventure sequences in Odisha's Koraput. Few images and clips from the sets had gone viral during their Odisha schedule. Even reports have been abuzz that the team will be back in Odisha, as Rajamouli has plans to film some sequences in the Bhubaneswar outskirts.
While there is no official confirmation backing the claims, the makers are reportedly working on a two-minute announcement video giving a glimpse into Rajamouli's cinematic world, featuring the lead actors. The announcement video is expected to be unveiled soon.
