Keerthy Suresh
National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh is known for her charm and elegance on screen, but behind the scenes, she has had her own share of fitness experiments. In a recent interview, the star got candid about how she once lost nine kilos solely through cardio and why it wasn’t the healthiest approach.
“In 2019, I was very chubby… not fat, but built,” Keerthy recalled in a chat with Gallata.com. “I did a lot of cardio, no strength training and I lost weight quickly.” The results were dramatic, with her face looking sharper and more sculpted. But there was a catch. “When I saw my pictures from 2019, my face looked emaciated,” she admitted.
Keerthy confessed that her overall lifestyle at the time wasn’t healthy. “I was not working out regularly. My routine was just sleeping, eating, working, and sleeping again,” she said. Fitness experts warn that relying only on cardio can lead to muscle loss, slowing metabolism and reducing strength.
While cardio whether jogging, cycling, or swimming is great for calorie burn and heart health, experts recommend pairing it with two to three days of strength training each week. This helps preserve muscle, improve body composition, and avoid the “skinny-fat” look.
Today, Keerthy follows a more holistic fitness plan that combines cardio and strength training. Her focus is on long-term health and sustainable results rather than quick fixes a message that resonates with anyone looking to get fit the right way.
