18-year-old pop artiste, Sherya Lenka has brought glory to Odisha as well as India by making it to ‘Blackswan’, an immensely popular South Korean K-pop girl group. 

Having Lenka in its band, ‘Blackswan’, the heartthrob among youngsters, has its first ever India star. 

Lenka and Gabriela Dalcin (19) are the 5th and 6th member of the K-pop girl group, announced DR Music, the promoter of Blackswan on Thursday. 

In December last year, the lanky damsel from Jharsuguda was selected for the training in Seoul to be part of the group after Hyeme, the group’s oldest member, left the band in November 2020. 

While Lenka and Gabriela underwent intense training in starting from vocal, rap, dance lessons to playing musical instruments, language and personal training, the duo will be in Seoul for next few months for further training so that the group will release its next album. 

Lenka and Gabriela were chosen from among 4,000 applicants participated in a YouTube programme that began in 2021. 

For the second round, Lenka and 22 others were qualified. Lenka too shone in the second round to secure her place in the Top 4. 

Lenka, daughter of Abinash Lenka and Priya Lenka, is an artiste to her fingertip. Besides being a trained Odissi classical dancer, she is also a freestyle, hip-hop and contemporary dancer. She has not only participated in several regional and national dance competitions but also won awards and appreciation.
