Sonu Sood
Sonu Sood is known more for his social work during the Corona pandemic times than his acting in Bollywood. In the last few years, he has emerged as the messiah for the needy and destitute. The Jodhaa Akbar actor has come up with several funds and organisations that help poor people get help in completing education, employment, and even financial aid for medical treatment.
While he has always maintained distance from politics his recent quotes on the current happenings and decisions by the governments in India have brought him once again into the limelight. The Uttar Pradesh government has made it mandatory for the shopkeepers to mention their real name (name of the proprietor) on their shops and it has created a huge political debate in India.
There should be only one name plate on every shop : “HUMANITY” 🇮🇳

Responding to the same Sonu Sood a day ago commented on social media, “There should be only one nameplate on every shop: “HUMANITY.” It triggered a huge backlash from a certain section of the society with many users suggesting that the Halal should be then replaced by humanity or Sonu Sood should change his name to humanity.
Yet again today he has come up with a controversial comment which seems to be equating the food spitting behaviour with that of Shabri’s ber in Ramayana. When a netizen trolled the actor saying, “थूक लगाई रोटी "सोनू सूद" को “पार्सल” की जाये, ताकि भाईचारा बना रहे ! (Thuk lagayi roti Sonu Sood ko parcel ki jaye taki bhaichara bana rahe)” Sood responded, “हमारे श्री राम जी ने शबरी के झूठे बेर खाए थे तो मैं क्यों नहीं खा सकता हिंसा को अहिंसा से पराजित किया जा सकता है मेरे भाई बस मानवता बरकरार रहनी चाहिए । जय श्री राम. (Our Shri Ram had eaten partially eaten ber of Shabri then why I cannot eat it. It is possible to defeat violence with non-violence my brother. The only thing is that humanity should remain. Jai Shri Ram).”

Thus in his response Sonu Sood compared food spitting or the halal practice with that of the berries offered by Shabri to Lord Shri Ram. While Ramayana says Shabri offered the half-eaten ber to Lord Ram as she was full of devotion towards him and wished to offer only sweet fruits to him, food spitting as a practice by a certain community is an entirely different thing.
