Shahid Kapoor replaces Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's Prem Ki Shaadi?

Salman Khan has been the eternal Prem in Sooraj Barjatya’s movies. Starting from Maine Pyaar Kiya to his last directorial-Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, it has been Dabangg Khan who has headlined most of the movies of Sooraj as Prem. Of course, Hrithik Roshan did play Prem in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Abhishek Bachchan also playing important roles, but fans could not accept Duggu as Prem.

A few months ago Rajshri Productions announced its new movie Prem Ki Shaadi with Salman Khan to be directed by Sooraj. But now the latest buzz says that the production house is planning to replace the Bollywood superstar with Shahid Kapoor. Sasha has already worked with the banner more than a decade ago for Vivah in which he also played the iconic Prem. The movie did a decent business.

Now once again, Rajshri has decided to rope in the Kabir Singh actor to play Prem.

Disagreements have led to fallout between Salman and Sooraj

It is very disappointing news for Salman and Sooraj fans who enjoyed the Tiger 3 actor playing Prem in movies like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain. But now Bollywood Life has said that some issues have halted the progress of this movie. The source has said that the film was all set to go on the floors in 2024 but both Sooraj and Salman are not on the same page regarding this film and hence have called it quits.

A few sources earlier claimed that since Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan are having many disagreements they are planning to shelve Prem Ki Shaadi. However, now the reports suggest that instead of shelving the film, Sooraj has decided to go ahead with Shahid Kapoor as Prem and accordingly is going to make changes to the script.

According to the source, “When Salman left the movie, he immediately approached Shahid, who also played the role of ‘Prem’ in his 2006 romantic drama, Vivah. Both have met multiple times and their conversations thus far point to the possibility of their reunion after 18 years."

However, Shahid has yet to give his nod for the movie.
