Shahid Kapoor's Deva has a connection with Big B's Deewaar! Character more intense and violent than Kabir Singh?

1975's Deewaar is often credited with exalting Amitabh Bachchan to superstardom. With eminent writer-duo Salim-Javed's recommendation, Amitabh Bachchan replaced Rajesh Khanna and emerged as the 'Angry Young Man' of Bollywood. The movie, also starring Sashi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi and Nirupa Roy, became a blockbuster. Recently, the movie clocked 50 years. While fans celebrated it joyously on social media, Shahid Kapoor, recently, teased a connection between Deva and Amitabh Bachchan's Vijay character in Deewaar.

During a recent interview, Shahid hinted that his character in Deva has relevance to Big B's iconic character Vijay.

Notably, fans have already got a glimpse of Shahid in Deva, who is portraying the role of a rebellious cop on a revenge spree.

One of the posters released earlier showed Shahid smoking a cigarette infront of a mural of Big B from the classic flick.

When asked if there is a connection between the two films, the Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya actor said, "This question should be for Rosshan because he was the one who chose that. There is relevance within the film."

Further, during the interview with PTI, Shahid showered praises on the legendary actor and his film. 

He said, "A performance in a film like that makes every actor feel humble. Talking about Amit Ji we have all grown up watching him, we have idolised him as a star. The film had a strong story, very good interpersonal dynamics, great dialogues and stellar performances. It’s a great memory for all of us."

Action-thriller Deva is all set to hit the theatres on January 31. Soon after the makers unveiled the electrifying trailer, a section of netizens compared it to Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh.

Opening up about his character in Deva, Shahid during a press conference said, "It’s an aggressive character but ‘Deva’ is very Deva, there is no Kabir Singh in it. Deva is also not like any other character… Till ‘Kabir Singh’ people said, ‘Oh! Is he like Tommy Singh in ‘Udta Punjab’?"

However, Shahid said that the audience has to wait till January 31 to find all the answers.
