When SRK Was Shooed Away By Mannat's Watchman

Choreographer Ahmed Khan shared an interesting tale about how Shah Rukh and crew were shooed away by the watchman of Mannat during the shooting of 'Yes Boss,' prompting King Khan to say jokingly, 'Khareed Lun Kya?'

SRK hadn't always planned to purchase Mannat. It was during the shooting of 1997's Yes Boss, in which he played the lead, when the idea of purchasing Mannat came to his mind.

Notably, Yes Boss was shot in the vicinity of Mannat. While filming the song 'Chand Taare', SRK and his team were shooting outside the iconic bungalow.

Sharing the anecdote, while talking on Lehren Retro, Ahmed Khan said, "We were shooting Chand Taare outside Mannat, and the watchman shooed us away. There’s a shot of a Parsi couple driving, and Shah Rukh jumps on the car. We took that shot, and the watchman shooed us.”

Well, this light-hearted moment took a turn when SRK jokingly said, "Khareed loon kya? Phir shot lenge."

He went on to ask the crew, "Khareed loon kya?"

It seemed to be a mere joke to the entire crew at the time as Shah Rukh was still far behind the stardom he enjoys today. He worked harder, established himself and purchased Mannat in 2001. Before SRK locked the deal, Mannat was called 'Villa Vienna' and was owned by the Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust. The property was then valued at Rs 13.01 crore.

Well, this interesting anecdote closely relates to the song, 'Chand Taare...Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai...' as SRK fulfilled his dream. Moreover, this tale seems to have inspired a scene in 'Om Shanti Om' when the watchman of Superstar Rajesh Kapoor shooed away Om Prakash Makheja from infront of the bungalow and he promised to buy it. In his next birth, he owned the bungalow as Om's reincarnation Om Kapoor was born to Rajesh Kapoor.

Shah Rukh Khan's majestic bungalow in Mumbai's Bandra is a stunning piece of architecture. SRK purchased a humble bungalow in 2001 and transformed the property into a stunning blend of modern and traditional architecture. The bungalow boasts intricate designs, lavish interiors, and breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Mannat will once again undergo renovation and SRK has temporarily relocated to an apartment.
