Samay Raina
After weeks of silence following the India’s Got Latent controversy, comedian Samay Raina has returned to YouTube. Instead of a video, he shared a cryptic ‘Members Only’ post featuring just two emojis—a heart and a hug.
Currently, Samay is in Canada for his comedy tour after facing intense backlash in India over remarks made on his web show. The controversy resulted in multiple FIRs, a Supreme Court case, and the removal of all India’s Got Latent episodes from his YouTube channel.
On Friday night, Samay made his first YouTube update since the controversy, but it wasn’t a video. Instead, he posted a simple message for his Members Only subscribers—just two emojis, a heart and a hug, symbolizing solidarity and gratitude. Despite being limited to paid subscribers, the post quickly gained traction on the platform.
A fan's screenshot showed the post had already received 7,500 likes within a minute. Another user on Reddit noted that it had crossed 11,000 likes in under four minutes. Fans speculated that if the post had been public, it would have easily surpassed 100,000 likes.
Some Reddit users suggested that Samay might have intended to upload a video but decided against it due to legal concerns. "He must have been thinking of posting a video but realized he can't," wrote one user. Others believe he may be waiting for the legal situation to settle before making a public statement.
Samay’s show India’s Got Latent sparked outrage due to a controversial remark made by guest Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps. In the latest episode, Ranveer made a joke about "watching your parents have sex or joining them."
The comment drew heavy criticism, leading to multiple FIRs against Ranveer, Samay, and other panellists.
Following the backlash, Samay removed all episodes of the show from YouTube and has since remained largely silent on social media.
