With a series of hits in the last few years, Samantha Akkineni has been redefining her versatility. After her marriage to Naga Chaitanya in 2017, everyone was of the view that she may become a thing of the past and quit acting. However, she returned with a bang giving back-to-back hits.

She made her presence felt more than ever with her stellar performance in movies like Rangasthalam, Mahanati, Irumbu Thirai, U-Turn, Super Deluxe, Majili, Oh! Baby and Jaanu. She even got nominated for the Filmfare award for her role in Rangasthalam (Best Actress) and Mahanati (Best Supporting Actress). 

Besides, Samantha has been winning plaudits for her performance in the web series The Family Man 2. She has played the antagonist Raji in the web series which was her Hindi debut.

Now, the South Queen is having a number of projects in her kitty, and importantly, all are of different genres. Her three upcoming movies are Shakuntalam, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal, and an untitled horror flick among others.

Sam is currently shooting for the period drama Shakuntalam which is being directed by Gunasekhar. When the movie was launched in 2020, Samantha had said that it will be her dream project and dream role.

The U-Turn actress is also reportedly shooting for Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal, which is a Tamil romantic comedy and it stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. The film is written and directed by Vignesh Shivan while being jointly produced by Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara and Lalit Kumar.

Samantha will also be seen in a horror film which will be directed by Ashwin Saravanan. Reports are there that Sam may be seen playing the role of a Divyang in the movie. Though the shoot of the thriller has been reportedly hit due to the pandemic, it is expected that shooting of the same may begin once the actress is done with her other assignments.
