Salman Khan
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 are doing decent business worldwide but still, it is much less than expected. To some extent, it did get affected by the World Cup Tournament. However, the movie still failed to gain after the tournament ended and could reach nowhere near 350 crore collection as expected from such a big movie.
Even his earlier releases like Antim and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan could not create a stir at the box office and most of the people and even the critics thought that it was mostly because the films did not have proper content.
But Salman Khan does not seem to think so. Rather during his recent interaction with the media, he defended the failures of these movies, and the reasoning he gave seemed most unacceptable. The Bollywood superstar said that when KKBKKJ was released a national chain had reported that there were only 20 to 25% footfalls in the theater at that time.
According to him, the number could have been much better if these movies had been released now. But this is unacceptable because Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan was released 3 months before KKBKKJ became a huge hit and rewrote history. It attracted more than 3 crore people to the theaters. So how come suddenly after three months the footfall became so low?
Even Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar was released almost a month before KKBKKJ and went on to collect 150 crore and recorded around 75 lakh footfalls. Hence the reasons given by Salman Khan for his recent failures and low collection at the box office do not seem to be unacceptable.
The Bollywood superstar also said that he and the other producers of his releases went a bit lenient on the ticket pricing and according to him since they opted for popular pricing it affected the collection. He even said that his next movie will have tickets with expensive pricing because people do not appreciate the intention of low pricing so that everyone can watch the movie.
However, even Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar had low-priced tickets. It still had decent footfalls and the movie did well and gained a good collection with mouth publicity as the content was really good.
