Saif Ali Khan became seriously injured at his home during a stabbing attack by an intruder in the wee hours of January 16 this year. What followed was quite chaotic because instead of going to the hospital in his car, Saif went with 6-year-old Taimur in an auto-rickshaw. Even though Kareena Kapoor Khan was present during the attack she preferred to go to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s house with their younger son Jeh instead of accompanying her husband.

That led to many people calling all this a conspiracy to attract attention or a PR strategy. There were also rumours that Saif got these injuries during his fight with his wife Kareena. Now finally, for the first time after the attack, Saif Ali Khan in a candid interview with a leading media portal has opened up about what exactly happened that night.

The intruder was spotted in Jeh’s room, household came to Saif for help

During the interview, Saif revealed that around 2 a.m., their househelp saw an intruder in Jeh’s room and came to Saif and Kareena for help. When they went to Jeh’s room, Bebo and Saif saw the masked intruder holding two knives over this son's bed. Suddenly, Saif grabbed and pulled him down. The two started wrestling, with the intruder thumping on Saif's back.

At that time Saif did not realise that he was stabbing him with a knife as there was a lot of adrenaline rush. According to the Race actor, he has around 30 injuries around his neck and he still cannot believe that the attacker missed his carotid artery and jugular vein.

After a while, it was too difficult for Saif to handle him as the attacker was stabbing him repeatedly with a knife near his neck. At the exact moment their house helped Geeta pulled Saif off and rolled away the intruder. While the Bollywood actor was fighting with the intruder, Kareena Kapoor Khan went with Jeh to Taimur’s room to get him out of the house.

While Saif ran to another room to find something so that he could fight with the intruder, the house helped Geeta shut the door of the room thinking that he would be locked inside. However, the intruder went away using the drainage pipe near the children’s room, the same way in which he had come.

Kareena took Jeh to Karisma’s house

At that time all of them thought that the intruder was locked inside the house and all of them came down. Kareena frantically started calling for a rickshaw or a cab and said to Saif that he needed to go to the hospital. At that moment Saif was drenched in blood and had started feeling the pain. Kareena said to Saif that he should go to the hospital with Taimur and she would go to her sister’s house with Jeh as at that time no one was picking phone.

Their young son Taimur asked his father whether he was going to die but was completely composed all through the journey in the auto to the Lilavati Hospital. Despite being drenched in blood, the rickshaw driver Hari did not make a fuss and took them to the hospital using a shortcut. Saif narrated how the knife missed his spinal cord just by a millimeter. Saif had to undergo major surgery for 6 hours after which he was told by the doctors the seriousness of his injury.

So no conspiracies, it was all real and luckily for Saif the knife did not cross that extra millimetre or things would have been quite different.
