Rashmika Mandanna and Pooja Hegde are the two South Indian actresses who are currently leading the young brigade. While Rashoo and Pooja are close competitors, the Housefull 4 actress is way ahead of the others in terms of big offers and Bollywood movies. And is quite natural because Pooja Hegde came into the movie industry almost five years before Rashmika Mandanna.
Pooja made her debut in the film industry with a Tamil movie Mugamoodi in 2012. But since then she has been predominantly working in Telugu and Hindi films. While the actress made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with Mohenjo Daro opposite Hrithik Roshan helmed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, it was the same year when Rashmika Mandanna appeared on the big screen for the first time with Kirik Party.
In her journey of almost a decade, Pooja has given some big hits like Mukunda (2014), Maharishi (2019), Housefull 4 (2019), and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in 2020. The last movie starring Allu Arjun in the lead was a very big hit with its song Butta Bomma becoming a pan India rage.
She has currently both South Indian and Bollywood big-budget projects in hand including a romantic multilingual movie Radhe Shyam with Prabhas, Most Eligible Bachelor with Akhil Akkineni, Beast with Thalapathy Vijay, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali with Salman Khan, and Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus with Ranveer Singh.
As compared to Pooja, Rashmika has a long way to go. While she does have a few hits like Geetha Govindam and Devadas to her credit, if compared with Pooja Hegde, Rashmika Mandanna is way behind.
The Bheeshma actress will soon make her Bollywood debut opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Mission Majnu and is currently shooting with Amitabh Bachchan for Goodbye.
Now, it all depends on how well these Bollywood flicks work at the box office and get a response from the audience. Similarly, she also needs some good hits in the Southern film industry to consolidate her position as the leading diva in Tollywood and Kannada filmdom.
