Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has remained one of the most talked about projects. While excitement remains high for the cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic, fans can't wait to see Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol and Yash essaying Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman and Demon King Ravana, respectively. While an official announcement regarding the cast is awaited, Ranbir, Sunny and Yash have already confirmed their collaboration with Tiwari and Namit Malhotra. Well, Tiwari's recent Ram Navami post on social media has fueled anticipation. Amid the growing excitement, Sunny Deol recently talked about Ramayana with Ranbir and Yash.
Currently, Sunny Deol is busy in promotions of his upcoming flick Jaat, also starring Randeep Hooda as the antagonist. The movie is scheduled for release on April 10 and fans can't wait to see Sunny with his 'Dhai Kilo Ka Haath' in action.
During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, he opened up about the much-awaited Ramayana. During the conversation, he shed light on the complexities involved in working on a high-tech film like Ramayana. He also talked about how technological advancements have transformed storytelling in Indian cinema.
The Gadar 2 actor highlighted that an actor's job is to stay true to the character and trust the director's vision.
Praising the advancements in technology, Sunny said that Indian cinema is moving beyond a 'good enough' mindset and striving for perfection. He also noted that VFX is now making grand concepts believable.
During the conversation, he recalled being taken aback while watching Superman. He said how technology has evolved since then making everything possible in the Indian film industry.
Sunny expressed deep enthusiasm about collaborating with Namit Malhotra.
"I am very excited about Ramayana because Namit is doing it. He is currently heading special effects companies all over the world. He is doing a great job and is the right person to make Ramayana."
He further added, "He wants to make it believable because he believes in the story. I have known him for years, and I think he has got the right film to do so."
Talking about playing the revered character of Lord Hanuman, Sunny said that it's no easy feat and acknowledged the gravity of the role. However, when asked when will he begin filming for Ramayana, Sunny didn't divulge anything. He simply said, "I can't talk about all that."
Notably, Ramayana will be released in two parts. While the first part will hit the theatres during Diwali 2026, the second part will be released during Diwali 2027.
