Varun Dhawan in Baby John, Rajpal Yadav

Baby John featuring Varun Dhawan in the lead was a big flop of 2024. Both Varun and its producer Atlee had high hopes for this movie and they expected it to turn out as a game changer for the Bollywood star. Varun had worked very hard for this movie, promoted it aggressively along with his co-star Wamiqa Gabbi, and looked quite confident of delivering one of the best-ever movies of his career.

Things did not work like that though. Now Rajpal Yadav who played the role of constable Ram Sevak in Baby John has opened up about the movie’s debacle. The famous comedy actor said that the film could have done much better had the fans not watched original movie of the remake- Theri. According to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor, “If this weren’t a remake, then this would have been the well-made film of my 25-year career. But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it and because it was a remake, it affected the box office of the film.”

There has been discussion on the web that Varun Dhawan is depressed after Baby John failed to deliver according to expectations. When asked about how Varun is taking this failure, Rajpal Yadav appreciated the actor’s commitment to doing different roles.

He said, “Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking. He has always tried to do something different, and his attempts must be appreciated because taking risks is a big deal."

The film was made on a budget of 180 crore but failed to earn even 50 crore and had to be pulled from the theaters within a week of its release.

Elsewhere, Varun Dhawan seems to have accepted the fate of the movie in his way and is enjoying his life normally sharing posts from New Year and his recent outings.
