R Balki and Dulquer Salmaan’s Chup is an ode to ace director Guru Dutt #Watch Teaser

Today is the birth anniversary of famous Bollywood director Guru Dutt. To mark the occasion, R Balki shared the teaser of his upcoming psychological thriller starring Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt, and Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. The teaser is very interesting and the first frame opens up showing Dulquer singing Happy Birthday similar to a deceived lover as he makes flowers using newspapers. The teaser also unveils the look of Sunny Deol in the movie briefly.

And as the name and tagline of the movie Chup: Revenge of the Artist comes on screen, the classic song from Guru Dutt’s iconic movie Kaagaz Ke Phool, “Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam” starts playing in the background. During an interview recently Dulquer said that Chup is an experimental movie and that he is eagerly waiting for how the audience responds to it. He also revealed that when Balki came to him with the movie, he was shocked that the Paa director is planning to offer him the lead role in such a movie because it was way different from the body of work the actor has done to date.

Dulquer added that even for director Balki Chup is an experiment and that he is very much curious about it. The team announced the film last year on the death anniversary of the legendary Bengali director. The motion poster of the movie that was released earlier had the hit song from Pyaasa "Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaye Toh Kya Hai" playing in the background which to date is considered one of the best compositions of ace lyricist and shayar Sahir Ludhiyanwi.

Guru Dutt was a very intense director who directed movies of all genres including romance, comedy, and tragedy. It is believed that the role of Pyaasa was made keeping in mind the Tragedy King Dilip Kumar in mind but when Dilip sahib refused to work in Pyaasa, Guru Dutt himself chose to work as the lead actor and the rest is history.
