“Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho; to puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai...” This punch line of Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’ turned out pretty real for him. The Bollywood superstar has made a roaring comeback after a gap of four years with Pathaan that has broken several records in Indian cinema within the first five days.

Continuing its successful journey, Pathaan has beaten Prabhas-starrer Baahubali 2 as well as Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2 which held the top spots as the movies with the highest opening collections.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion helmed by SS Rajamouli still holds the record of being the highest-grossing Indian cinema globally. Even Prashanth Neel helmed KGF Chapter 2 has secured its position at the second spot on the list.

However, with its glorious box office collection in just the first four days, Pathaan overtook KGF 2 and Baahubali 2 to become the fastest to enter the Rs 200 crore club. In its first five days, the worldwide box office gross collection of Pathaan is Rs 543 crore. While in India the collection stands at Rs 335 crore, the overseas gross collection is recorded at Rs 208 crore.

With this collection, Pathaan has set a new milestone. While highest-grossing movies like Baahubali 2 (Hindi), KGF 2 (Hindi), RRR (Hindi), Dangal, Sanju, and Tiger Zinda Hai achieved the milestone after a week, Pathaan created the box office tsunami in just five days.

New records created by Pathaan are:

  • Highest grossing movie on day one in the history of Indian cinema
  • Only Hindi movie to breach the Rs 55 crore mark on day one, Rs 70 crore on day two
  • Hindi movie, fastest to record Rs 100 crore
  • Sets circuit record pan India
  • Hindi movie with the widest release in India
  • Highest-grossing Hindi movie on opening day post-pandemic
  • Highest-grossing Hindi movie with first-day collection, on non-holiday release

As it seems, Pathaan is on a spree to script new records in the history of Indian cinema.

If the movie continues its journey with such a stellar performance at the box office, probably, it may exceed the lifetime global collections of highest-grossing Indian movies like Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2, and RRR.

Reports of box office collections and the craze among fans certainly define a thumping comeback of Shah Rukh, which was eagerly awaited by every fan of the King of Romance and Hindi movie lovers, who were disheartened by the poor performance of Hindi movies. The whooping box office collections and craze for Pathaan amid the boycott calls and controversies is indeed a huge achievement for the actors and makers.

Moreover, such astounding performance and box office business was a much-needed thing for SRK after he failed to entice his fans with Zero.
