Movies are more often a work of fiction but many scenes are based on real life or inspired by the happenings in the society. And just because common people find a connection with the movie they become a hit.

Jawan is the biggest hit of 2023 that has Shah Rukh Khan in a double role. The movie has a short sequence based on the Gorakhpur tragedy that shows how systemic failures and apathy can kill and destroy lives.

While everyone who watched Jawan has felt the pain and related to the scene, Dr. Kafeel Khan, the ex-assistant professor at the BRD medical college, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh seems to have gone through the experience himself.

In an open letter to Shah Rukh Khan on X, the ex-doctor has called out certain similarities in the movie with the experience that he had during the Gorakhpur Encephalitis Incident.

He congratulated Shah for bringing that incident live on the screen showing his commitment to bringing in front of the public the real picture of misdoings in the society.

Dr. Kafeel has also said that the role of Dr. Eeram Khan performed by Sanya Malhotra though not directly has encapsulated the experiences he had.

It is a long letter in which at the start the doctor said that he tried to get SRK's email and contact but when failed to get one decided to post an open letter on social media so that he could tell Shah Rukh Khan about his thoughts regarding the entire incident.

He has also written a book depicting the entire incident titled “The Gorakhpur Hospital Tragedy” which is now available in six languages.

Dr. Kafeel has also asked SRK if he could meet the superstar and Jawan director Atlee to discuss his experiences and congratulate the team for their efforts.
