The condition of Ollywood actor Pintu Nanda still remains critical. As per sources, the actor will be taken to New Delhi for liver transplant at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS). According to sources, the liver transplant would cost a whopping Rs 50 lakh and it is almost next to impossible for family to arrange the necessary funds.

Under such circumstances, the Odisha Cine Artist Association has sought help from the Odisha government.

“Efforts are on to send Pintu Nanda to Delhi for liver transplant. Every artiste urges Odisha government to extend help at the earliest as there would be no meaning of a 'guard of honour' after he is gone,” said Sritam Das, secretary, Odisha Cine Artist Association.

Actor Pintu Nanda was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday after his health condition deteriorated. He is suffering from liver cirrhosis. Preliminary discussion has been done with ILBS doctor Ashok Choudhry regarding the treatment of the actor in Delhi. However, all the other vital organs need to the stable before the liver transplant and it may take some days.

On Thursday, the members and officials of the cine artist association including treasurer, actor Suresh Mishra, secretary Sritam Das provided some monetary assistance to the family of Pintu Nanda. The family and the Odisha Cine Artist Association have stepped up measures to crowd-fund the treatment.

Chairman of Odisha Film Development Corporation, Kuna Tripathy said, “Soon a major decision for Pintu Nanda will be taken by the cine artist association. Efforts are on to see from where the money can be sourced.”

Forty Five-year-old Pintu Nanda has acted in over 30 films in several characters as an actor, co-actor and comedian. Apart from Ollywood movies, Pintu Nanda has also acted in several albums and hosted a TV show.
