Not Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor was the first choice for THIS iconic flick opposite Salman Khan!
Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit have worked together in multiple movies in the 90s and the audience has showered extreme love on the iconic pair. The duo first time worked in Saajan and next in Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! The movie garnered high appreciation from the audience and emerged as a blockbuster. However, did you know that Madhuri Dixit was not the first choice for Salman's leading lady Nisha in the movie, it was Karisma Kapoor?
1994's Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! remains an evergreen flick for its engaging story and songs. However, above all, the onscreen chemistry of Prem (Salman) and Nisha (Madhuri) is still cherished by moviegoers.
Renowned filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya recently made an interesting revelation about the female lead. He revealed that Madhuri was not his first pick for Nisha. It was Karisma.
During a special episode of Indian Idol, the filmmaker revealed that initially, he considered Karisma for the role. He also recalled that the Hero No 1 actress had personally called him to watch her film Prem Qaidi. After watching the movie, Barjatya was very much impressed with Karisma.
Later, he told his father about Karisma. He said, "She has a lot of ability. We are still in the writing stage of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and we need to cast someone for the role of Nisha."
However, Rajkumar Barjatya, Sooraj's father was hesitant to cast Karisma.
Rajkumar Barjatya felt that Karisma was too young for the role. He also pointed out that Nisha would have to accept Rajesh's (Mohnish Bahl) child as her own. And this might be a huge responsibility for someone so young as Karisma.
He suggested casting someone who could carry that weight on her shoulders.
Finally, Madhuri Dixit was locked for the role and the rest is history.
