Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan

Everyone knows that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appeared on America’s most popular talk show- The Oprah Winfrey Show not once but twice. First, she appeared as a solo guest, and the second time she was invited along with her husband Abhishek Bachchan. That is why many believe that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the first Indian celebrity to be invited to this famous talk show.

However, that is not so. Salman Khan was the first Indian celebrity to receive an invitation from the team of Oprah Winfrey to appear on the show. At that time Aishwarya had just started her career while the Dabangg star was at the peak of his career and was in the list of top 10 Most Handsome Men in the World. Salman was named India’s best-looking actor by the American magazine People calling him, “Drop dead good looks…straight Kodak material.

He also topped the list of Most Handsome Man in India at that time. And that made the team of Oprah invite him to her show. Sister of Salman Khan, Alvira Agnihotri even confirmed that the makers of the famous show had approached her brother and invited him to be the guest on the show. But she said that she had no idea whether he would accept the invitation or not.

In 1997 Salman was the first Indian to be invited on the Oprah Winfrey show after he was ranked the 7th most good looking man in the world but he ignored the invitation

It seems the Bajrangi Bhaijan actor did not take this invitation seriously and hence Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became the first Indian celebrity to be a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show. While over the years it has been Shah Rukh Khan who has graced different world stages and events representing India and the Indian film fraternity, things may have been different had Salman Khan taken up the invitation to be the guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
