NO Ganapath magic! Kriti Sanon and the flop list from Adipurush, Bachchan Pandey, Panipat to Bhediya

Kriti Sanon was in the news all through the week as she collected her first National Award for Mimi as Best Actress which she shared with Alia Bhatt. And now her much-awaited Ganapath with Tiger Shroff has hit the theaters. As is known Kriti and Tiger debuted together in Bollywood with Heropanti and this was sort of a reunion for them on the screen. Hence, fans expected the same spark and magic on the screen that they enjoyed during Heropanti.

Despite being launched with much fanfare, and Promotion, Ganapath received a pretty low start at the box office proving once again that both Tiger and Kriti need big names to deliver a big hit. While in Tiger’s case, it may be true because his last big hit was War with Hrithik Roshan , Kriti is certainly going through a very bad phase as even working with superstars has not helped her career which seems to be on the decline.

Panipat directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar had Kriti playing the role of Parvati Bai. She was paired with Arjun Kapoor and looked beautiful as the Maharashtrian royalty but the big-budget movie failed to appeal to the audience despite being helmed by a director who has delivered hits like Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar.

Two other biggies that fell into the laps of Kriti were Adipurush and Bachchan Pandey with Prabhas and Akshay Kumar respectively as the male leads. Directed by Tanhaji fame Om Raut, Adipurush had everything going its way- a whopping budget, a big Southern star like Prabhas, and a capable actor like Saif Ali Khan playing the antagonist. The movie based on Ramayana was outright rejected by the audience and did not even receive a run of a few days in theaters.

Until a few years ago, Akshay Kumar was the man who was churning millions with 5 to 6 hits per year. However, all his recent movies have turned out to be big flops including Bachchan Pandey which was a big dud. Ditto with Bhediya featured Kriti with her Dilwale co-star Varun Dhawan as the male lead.

It was also not well-received indicating that most of the movies of Kriti Sanon in the recent past have not done well.
