Fans are well aware that Rajamouli is highly fond of Mahabharata and he sought inspiration for his mega-blockbuster Baahubali from the Indian epic. Even Rajamouli admitted that all his movies are inspired by Mahabharats and Ramayana because those are two epics that were fed to him from his childhood. Further, he also stated that he has an emotional connection with those epics.

Earlier, the filmmaker revealed that the Mahabharata has been his dream project for a long time and he wants to make it bigger and better for which he requires more time.

Later, at an event in New York, he said, “What I have done in RRR is an ant’s head of what Mahabharata can be. For the imagery I have in my mind, I think I need more time, I need to learn more film craft to get it on the screen.”

Recently, the buzz around Mahabharata has gained momentum after the filmmaker talked about his plans to turn his vision into reality.

India Today quoted Rajamouli saying, “If I get to the point of making Mahabharata, it would take me a year just to read the versions of Mahabharat that are available in the country. At present, I can only assume that it would be a 10-part film.”

He again recurred his earlier statement that all his movies are loosely inspired by the Hindu mythological epic. “Every film I make, I feel that I’m learning something to ultimately make Mahabharata. So that’s my dream and every step is towards that,” he said.

Touted as one of the most expensive films to be ever made in the Indian cine industry, the movie will be made in series to somehow justify the Indian epic.  Earlier, Indian Express reported that the movie series will be co-produced by Reliance Industries Chief Mukesh Ambani. Certain media reports also suggested that international writers will work on the script to give it a global appeal.

On the other hand, fans have been speculating that several A-listed actors from various regional industries will be roped in for the project for different prominent characters to make the movie globally appealing.

Well, movie lovers might have to wait longer as Rajamouli has made up his mind to work on three or four films before stepping into the ocean.

On the work front, it is rumoured that Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu will also have its lead character inspired by Lord Hanuman.
