Katrina Kaif was 'scared of marrying' Ranbir Kapoor! Know Kat's greatest fear while dating Ramayana actor

Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has been enjoying his fatherhood soon after tying the knot with actress Alia Bhatt. RK tied the knot with Alia after dating her for almost five years. While RK's name was linked with several others, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were the most publicised relationship. As per reports, while Kat was the reason behind Deepika-Ranbir's breakup, did you know the reason why she (Katrina) parted ways with Ranbir?

Here we bring an interesting throwback story when Katrina reportedly revealed the reason for the breakup with Ranbir.

While the Ramayana actor was dating Deepika, Katrina was reportedly involved with Salman. Well, interestingly, it was Deepika who introduced Ranbir with Katrina, while they were in a relationship.

Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor's love story

The duo crossed paths while filming Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009). Their on-screen chemistry soon transformed into off-screen rumours of a blossoming love. Kat and Ranbir were reportedly among the most high-profile couples in Bollywood. This created quite a storm in their respective relationships. Ranbir and Deepika's breakup and Katrina's relationship dissolution with Salman at around the same time further fueled the buzz.

Even though all eyes were on Ranbir and Katrina, the duo was inseparable. Soon after their breakups, the APKGK stars were spotted together at family functions, parties and other public events. Their bond appeared so natural that reports surfaced that the duo got secretly engaged in London and were planning to marry in 2016.

However, their plans took an unexpected turn. The duo parted ways in 2016 after dating for around six years.

Why Kat-Ranbir part ways?

Well, very few are aware of the reason why the duo parted ways.

Earlier in 2015, Kat, during an interview with GQ India, opened up about her greatest fear of dating Ranbir.

Kat confessed, "My greatest fear is that if and when I get married and I am standing at the altar or the mandap, he may not love me completely. That he may not know his mind well enough to be making those commitments. The anticipation of heartbreak is my only fear."

Further, during the same interview, Kat also revealed that she wanted to have a deeper connection with Ranbir's family.

"I am not as close to Ranbir’s family as I would like. But I would like to hang out with them more. Family would be a defining factor when I make the decision to marry. I am a very responsive person. So, if my partner gives me what I need, I can be the best girlfriend you can wish for," she added.

After their breakup, the duo moved on in life and embraced fresh beginnings while remaining respectful and cordial toward each other. Currently, Ranbir is happily married to Alia and Katrina is enjoying marital bliss with Vicky Kaushal.
