The roaring success of the Baahubali series, KGF series and RRR has already set the bars high for south movies across India. While the craze and love for Pushpa: The Rise, Vikrant Rona and 777 Charlie is yet to diminish, another movie has fuelled the craze and buzz for movies from down south.
Karthikeya 2, starring Nikhil Siddhartha, Anupama Parameswaran, and Anupam Kher, is a Telugu movie that has been grabbing the headlines while Hindi-language movies are failing to grab the eyeballs and gluing the moviegoers to their seats.
As the roar of south movies continues on the big canvas, the mystery adventure flick Karthikeya 2, a sequel to Karthikeya (2014), is performing stupendously at the box office. The Tollywood flick written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti presents the quest of Dr. Karthikeya to find the lost anklet of Lord Krishna.
The movie released on August 13 received a massive response from movie lovers across the globe. The flick has by now been declared a blockbuster after its box office collection crossed the Rs 50 crore-mark.
Cine goers, critics and several prominent figures from the industry have hailed the remarkable journey and success of Karthikeya 2. Baahubali Prabhas himself hailed the achievement and congratulated the entire team.
“Congratulations to actors Nikhil, Anupama Parameswaran, Anupam Kher, director Chandoo Mondeti and the entire team of ‘Karthikeya 2’ for their blockbuster success.” And, in response to the appreciation, Nikhil replied, " Prabhas Bhai thanks for the wishes. ‘Karthikeya 2’ team is overwhelmed with your message to us."
As reported by cine critic Taran Adarsh, the Hindi dubbed version of Karthikeya 2 has been raking in the moolah after witnessing a growth of 300% on day 2. The cine critic in his Tweet on August 15 mentioned that while Karthikeya 2' Hindi version had 157 shows on Saturday (August 13), the shows increased to 245 on Sunday and 274 on Monday. The remarkable growth was witnessed even though it had major players as its opponent.
While the collection of Karthikeya 2 Hindi version on Saturday was 7 lakh, the collection witnessed a massive growth the next day with 28 lakh. The trend continued on Monday with a collection of Rs 1.10 crore, followed by Tuesday with Rs 1.28 crore, Rs 1.38 crore on Wednesday and Rs 1.64 crore on Thursday. Even the collection flow continued in the second week as the Friday collection is pegged at Rs 2.46 crore taking the total collection to Rs 8.21 crore.

Actor Nikhil, elated over the remarkable global achievement, proudly announced on Saturday that the Karthikeya 2's gross global collection in a week reached Rs 60.12 crore.

The charm of Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan seems to be nowhere in the country. On the other hand, Karthikeya 2 has emerged as the first choice of movie lovers in the Hindi belt and it is expected that the domination will continue over the weekend.
