Dunki
Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki have been drawing a lot of attention as expected. From its first teaser (drop) to the latest release of the song “Lutt Putt Gaya” each and every content delivered by the Dunki team is getting lapped up and appreciated.
As is known, the story revolves around the widespread use of illegal backdoor routes by immigrants to enter big economies like Canada and the USA. This backdoor route is termed “Donkey Flight” or Dunki in the layman language of Indians.
While that is all about the synopsis, since it is being directed by a big director like Hirani, the treatment of this subject is going to be interesting and has already triggered a lot of excitement. Although there have been movies based on immigration and backdoor entry into Western countries, the general expectation is that Dunki will be way different from the previous releases.

However, recently an X user alleged that Dunki is the remake of Desierto and also compared a few scenes from the movie with that of Dunki’s earliest teaser or Drop 1.
For the unversed, Desierto was a thriller released in 2015 directed and co-written by Jonas Cuaron. Similar to Dunki its story also focussed on the struggles of immigrants. The film starts with a group of Mexican migrant workers crossing the American borders illegally to seek a better life. But misfortune strikes when their truck breaks down and the driver leaves them halfway to cross the border on their own.
Interestingly, a few scenes from Desierto where the migrants are struggling to cross the borders look almost similar to that are picturized in Dunki Drop 1 which seems to have made the X user calling Dunki a remake of Desierto. Several other social media users have also come up with names of other movies calling out Rajkumar Hirani for copy-pasting certain scenes from other films.
However, it is too early to say as the makers are yet to launch its trailer and the movie has almost a month before it hits the theaters on December 22. Being a renowned director, hopefully, Dunki will come out as one of the most original works of Hirani as before.
