News Highlights

  • Pawandeep Rajan and Arunita Arunita Kanjilal are undoubtedly some of the two best singers of Indian Idol 12's most favored to win the title this year.
  • Post-Shanmukha Priya’s performance of Chori Chori from Kareeb netizens have changed their opinion about her and believe that she too has the potential to win the competition.

Indian Idol 12’s Pawandeep Rajan and Arunita Kanjilal are considered to be the top contenders for winning the competition this year. Both have millions of fans regularly voting for them and fans even love the pair of the two. On the other hand, Shanmukha Priya is one singer, who although is in the top 7, has been slammed regularly for her loud singing. But it seems she has finally managed to impress the audience with her distinctiveness.

In yesterday’s episode not only did SNP sing well but she also won the heart of none other than legendary scriptwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar. The Indian Idol 12 yesterday dedicated a tribute to one of the most famous writers of Bollywood as the contestants sang the song written by Javedji.

He gave good tips to the contestants and had special words for Shanmukha. The singer could not help but gush and smile when she came to know that Javedji has heard her yodeling and liked the way she sings. Even the host Aditya Narayan encouraged SNP saying that he would one day like to do a concert with her.

After getting slammed repeatedly for not being versatile and singing in only one Joyner, Shanmukha Priya has now started showing variations. That is why many Indian Idol 12 viewers have also changed their opinion about her after listening to her Chori Chori number from Kareeb and Senorita from Farhan Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara. But it is not going to be easy for SNP to win the competition as other contestants including Ashish Kulkarni, Nihal Tauro, Mohammed Danish, and Sayli Kamble are also very good singers apart from of course Arunita and Pawandeep.

If Shanmukha Priya or any other female contestant does win the title, it will be for the first time that a girl has won Indian Idol after almost a gap of three seasons. The last girl to win Indian Idol was Ananya Sritam Nanda who won the Season 8 title in 2015.
