Iconic roles of Ajay Devgn: From Phool Aur Kaante to Bholaa

Ajay Devgn celebrates his birthday today. The Bollywood producer, director, and actor made his debut in the Hindi film industry in 1991 with the movie Phool Aur Kaante which was a big hit and launched Ajay ceremoniously. Since then, it has been no looking back for him. While there have been highs and lows in his career, his stardom was never affected by the performance of his movies at the box office.

Over the years he has mesmerized the audience with many iconic roles and has led three big franchises which to date are some of the biggest movie franchises from Bollywood. Be it Golmaal, Drishyam, or Singham, all these franchises have been headed by the tall, dark, and handsome actor who is simply irreplaceable in these movies.

Phool Aur Kaante

Vishal aka Ajay Devgn is the son of famous Bollywood stunt choreographer and action director Veeru Devgn which is why everyone expected his debut to include a lot of action scenes. And with Phool Aur Kaante Ajay did establish that he was one of the best when it comes to performing high-octane action sequences on the silver screen. His special scene of riding on two bikes at the same time in the days when there was no support for VFX and other technology, till date is remembered by his fans.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior

Released in 2020, this movie was produced by Ajay Devgn and also starred his wife Kajol and Saif Ali Khan in important roles. Ajay owned the role of the Malwa soldier Tanhaji who fought for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and laid his life to save his king and kingdom. The movie was a super hit and Ajay received National Award for his role as Tanhaji in the movie.

Singham

No doubt Ajay Devgn is best loved in action movies, especially as a police officer. His earlier hits like Gangaajal proved how dashing he looks as a police officer. But due credit should be given to Rohit Shetty who created Bajirao Singham’s character which Ajay played to the hilt. The franchise already has two hit movies and preparation for Singham 3 are underway.

Drishyam

Two movies from this franchise have already won the hearts of the audience. Although these movies are remakes of the original Malayalam films, Ajay as Vijay Salgaonkar simply excels and is remarkable. It is a suspense movie that required the lead characters to say more with their eyes and body language rather than with loud dialogue. And Ajay has managed to create the right persona and atmosphere with his strong and resilient presence all through the movie.

Bholaa

Released in March 2023, Bholaa is the remake of the Tamil hit movie Kaithi. The film is produced, and directed by Ajay and is running packed houses. In this action thriller, Ajay plays the lead role of Bholaa who goes through a lot of fights and struggles to unite with his daughter living in an orphanage.
