From SRK to Ranveer Singh: Bollywood superstars with no release in 2024

2023 was the year of Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. While SRK delivered two of his massive blockbusters Pathaan and Jawan last year, Ranbir’s Animal is still minting moolah and running successfully at the box office. Salman Khan’s much-awaited Tiger 3 with Katrina Kaif was released this year. Although the film underperformed and failed to do business as expected it was declared a hit.

Ranveer Singh’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani was a big blockbuster and brought back the career of the Simmba actor on track after delivering back-to-back flops last year. These were some of the biggest movies in 2023 apart from Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and kept money rolling for Bollywood.

But it seems the same magic will not be seen in 2024 and Bollywood might see a lull in business because most of these superstars who delivered big hits last year do not have a release in 2024.

No release of Salman and Shah Rukh Khan

It will be the first time in the last three decades that there will be no release of either Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan. Of course, there was no release in 2022 but that was due to the pandemic. Aamir Khan has scheduled his next movie release date on Christmas but he is often known to keep on changing dates.

Moreover, this Aamir Khan movie will be released by the end of 2024 and most of the business will be done in 2025. There is a buzz that Shah Rukh Khan is doing a cameo in his daughter Suhana Khan’s next movie with Sujoy Ghosh. But that is not going to deliver results like Pathaan and Jawan.

Many trade analysts and film exhibitors believe that 2023 was a huge year for Bollywood and the numbers might not be the same in 2024. Movies of other big stars like Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again and Maidaan are scheduled to release this year.

However, film critics do not think either of these movies will become a huge blockbuster like Jawan or Animal.

Big movies from Telugu will release in 2024

Although no movie by Shah Rukh Khan , Salman Khan, or Ranbir Kapoor will be released in 2024, some big flicks from Tollywood featuring Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, and Jr NTR will hit theaters this year. Also, some big movies from Hollywood are slated to release in the second half of 2024.
